There are a number of methods that can be used to program your LED display.  Below you will find a explanation of the different methods available.

●>
This is probably the simplest way to program the display. It consists of a small keypad similar to the type used for your television.  It offers a wireless connection to the display. However, it can be quite cumbersome to use if large amounts of data need to programmed. The IR keypad is also unsuitable for exterior displays.

This is similar to the IR keypad except the keypad is wired directly to the display. This type of keypad can be used for internal and external displays. It is not recommended though if large amounts of data need to be input.

●>

This is similar to the plug in keypad except the keyboard has a small LCD display that is used to compose the message. This keypad is ideal where the display can not be seen from the programming position and can be used with either RS232 or RS485 signals. This keypad is only suitable for single and bi-line signs.

The display is programmed using a PC using our control software. The software runs in a Windows environment and has an easy to use interface. This is the easiest method and can be used with a number of different communication options to give total flexibility.

●>

Used with the PC Control software above, the display is plugged directly into the PC serial port. This method is suitable for distances of up to 60 metres.

●>

This method is also used with the PC Control software. An RS232 to RS485 converter is plugged into the serial port of the PC. This method is used for communicating over greater distances than RS232 or where the display is used in a noisy environment such as factories.

●>

Also used with the PC Control software. The display can be programmed over a telephone line.  This is an ideal method if the display is required to be programmed remotely from a different site.  The disadvantages are that a telephone line needs to be available at the display position.

●>

Similar to the telephone modem except the mobile phone network is used. This system offers the advantage of a wireless connection but can only be used where there is adequate reception.  A monthly subscription with the service provider is also required.

●>

The display can also be programmed across a network using 2 methods. The first is to connect the display to a local PC on the network. This message to be displayed on the sign is then routed from anywhere on the network to the required display. The second method is to use a small converter unit at the display.  This enables the display to be connected directly to the network.

●>

Where the distance between the PC and display is relatively short, radio modems can be used. They are license exempt and require no monthly subscription. They can be used for distances up to approximately 4KM depending on the environment.

●>

This is a very simple way to program the display. Again it uses the GSM network used by mobile phones.  It enables the display to be programmed from any mobile phone using the SMS text system. A SIM card is required for this option. A subscription with the service provider is not always required for this option as a ‘Pay As You Go’ SIM card can be used.
